None of us are Catholic.” The speaker was a man, about 40 years old, a farmer to judge from his callused hands and sun burned face. There was another younger man and two women with him, whom he introduced as his brother and sisters. They had several small children with them. His question made me smile, just a short time before, as member of a commission appointed by the Korean Bishops to draw up a directory for pastoral work in Korea, I had persuaded the Bishop to allow non-Catholic marriages in the Churches of Korea, provided neither party had a divorces in the background or any impediment of natural law. “You see, Father,” the man explained. “My parents were too poor to have a marriage ceremony with a picture. They just registered their marriage according to civil law. Then they had to support me and my six brothers and sisters. They always felt bad they had no picture of their wedding to show us as we grew up. Now my Father’s 60th birthday is coming up and we want to chip in and pay for a marriage ceremony for them, if it’s not too expensive, a real marriage, ,,, with a picture.” I assured them it wouldn’t be too expensive. There were three wedding dresses at the Church and if one fit his mother they wouldn’t even have to rent a wedding gown. The Lord blessed the Wedding Day with a bright sun, and the bride was radiant with happiness, walking down the aisle to meet her groom of 50 years. Young women of the choir sang and the grandchildren played in the aisle as the couple promised to love and cherish each other. After the ceremony I stood with them before the altar as the local photographer took a picture. Bride and groom smiled happily as they left the Church, surrounded by their seven children and numerous grandchildren. They were really married now ,,, with a picture! 제목 ; 내가 사랑하는 사람들 순서 6번 ; 결혼한 커플 사진한방도 찍고   저희가 성당에서 결혼식 한번 마련해 드렸으면 하는데 괜찮으시겠습니까 ? 저희들은 아무도 천주교신자가 아닌데요. 그런 말을 한 사람은 40살쯤 되어 보였고 거친 손과 햇빛에 탄 얼굴로 보아 농사짓는 사람이었습니다. 젊은 남자와 두 여자도 같이 있었는데, 남동생과 여동생이라고 소개를 받았습니다. 몇 명의 아이들도 있었습니다.   그 사람의 질문으로, 바로 얼마 전에,.한국 주교님들께 한국의 전원적인 행사에 대하여 하나의 규정을 작성해 내도록 위임을 받은 위원으로서 저는 웃을 수 있었습니다. 제가 주교님들께 한국의 천주교회안에서 천주교식이 아닌 결혼식을 할 수 있도록 설득을 해 왔었고 반면에 이혼을 하지도 않고 자연법상 어떤 장애도 없이 살도록 해야 한다고 해왔었거든요.     보세요, 신부님. 그 사람이 설명했습니다. 저희 부모님은 결혼식도 하고 사진도 찍고 하기에 너무 가난하셨습니다. 그분들은 그분들의 결혼을 그저 민법대로 등록하셨지요. 그리고 그분들은 저와 여섯 남동생들을 돌보셔야만 했습니다. 그분들은 저희가 성장하면서 저희에게 보여주실 결혼사진도 없어서 늘 좋지 않아 보이셨습니다. 그리고 지금 제 아버님의 육순이 다가오고 있고 그분들의 결혼식을 꾸며 드리고 싶습니다. 만일 그리 비싸지 않으면, 진짜로 결혼식을 해드리고 사진 한 장도 찍고.   저는 그리 비싸지 않을 것이라고 그분들에게 믿으시도록 말씀을 드렸습니다. 성당에 세 웨딩드레스가 있었고 하나가 그의 어머니에게 맞으면 그들은 결혼식 가운을 빌릴 필요가 없었습니다.   주님께서는 결혼하는 날 밝은 태양으로 축복해 주셨고, 40대와 비슷한 신부를 만나러 복도를 내려오면서 신랑은 행복감에 빛이 났습니다. 젊은 부인들 합창단은 노래를 불렀고 아이들은 복도에서 뛰어 놀았습니다. 마치 그 한 쌍의 커플이 사랑하기로 약속 하였고 서로를 소중히 하기로 약속했던 것처럼 말이죠. 예식이 끝나고 저는 그분들과 제단 앞에 섰고 그때 동네의 사진사가 사진을 찍었습니다.   신랑과 신부는 그들이 성당을 떠나면서 행복하게 미소를 지었습니다. 그분들 주변에 일곱 자녀들과 수많은 손자 손녀들이 있었습니다. 그분들은 그때당시 진짜 결혼했고 사진한방도 찍었습니다.
